Tivoli Vilamoura

Monday, 07 November 2016 - Tivoli Hotels drops brand in Vilamoura

The purchase of the Tivoli hotel chain by Thais from Minor Hotels will have the first results at the level of the brands explored in the country with the entry of a new insignia, replacing the historic brand used so far in one of the units of the chain in the Algarve.

Thus, the Tivoli Victoria, opened since March 2009, will be renamed Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort from April next year, the brand announced in a statement this Monday, November 7. No new brand changes are possible in other units.

Last February, Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of the Thai group, expressed a desire to "take the Tivoli brand out of Portugal" and strengthen the presence of the hotel chain in Portugal. "In five years, the size and type of the Tivoli brand will be very different," he assured at the time.

In the case of Anantara in Vilamoura, the introduction of the new brand will be accompanied by a "slight renovation" of the main lobby, gymnasium and children's area, as well as the launch of a new category of luxury family suites, which can receive up to four people.

The spa will also change its name to Anantara Spa, while facilities for children will be designed by the World Wide Kids Company and will have a dedicated check-in. The restaurants and bars also have the signature Anantara - Dining by Design.

The hotel has 280 rooms and is located next to the Oceânico Victoria golf course.

"Since our recent expansion to Europe and South America with the acquisition of Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, the strategy is to bring the group's various brands to these new operating regions and the launch of Anantara Vilamoura in Portugal is the first part Of this plan, "said Dillip Rajakarier in the statement.

The purchase of the Tivoli hotel network was completed in February for 294 million euros, a business that lasted 18 months, with a Special Revitalization Process, an asset arrest and a Montepio action.

At that time, the company announced the closing of the purchase of the 14 hotels and the investment of more than 50 million euros in the renovation of units in Portugal. Anantara - a brand of Minor Hotels - operates 37 hotels and resorts in 12 countries.
